SADI-S

SADI-S (Single Anastomosis Duodeno-Ileal Bypass with Sleeve) is a newer weight loss surgery that combines a sleeve gastrectomy with a single connection from the duodenum to the lower part of the small intestine. This approach limits both the amount of food you can eat and the calories your body absorbs, offering excellent weight loss and metabolic improvement. SADI-S is a simplified version of the traditional duodenal switch, performed minimally invasively—often with the Da Vinci XI robotic system—for improved precision and recovery.

Pros:

Excellent weight loss (up to 75–85% of excess body weight)

High rates of diabetes and metabolic syndrome remission

Single intestinal connection reduces surgical complexity and risk

Lower risk of dumping syndrome compared to gastric bypass

Strong appetite control and long-term satiety

Cons:

Still requires long-term vitamin and mineral supplementation

Risk of fat-soluble vitamin and protein deficiencies

May cause loose stools or malabsorption-related symptoms

Less long-term data than gastric bypass or duodenal switch
